FAQs | Project Management

Q. Who carries out the on site construction of the timber frame?
A. Prestoplan can provide a supply-only package, but the majority of our clients prefer us to take responsibility for the timber frame.

Q. How does Prestoplan control the work on site?
A. Prestoplan uses established timber frame construction companies, which we audit in respect of their performance, competence and Health & Safety. In conjunction with other members of the UKTFA, we are establishing a training and independent accreditation scheme.

Q. Who manages the process?
A. Prestoplan has regional teams of Construction Managers and Site Managers who monitor work-in-progress and when satisfied that the work is complete issue a formal hand over certificate.

Q. What are Prestoplan doing about the C.S.C.S Scheme (Construction Skills certification Scheme)?
A. All Prestoplan Construction and Site Managers have accreditation cards and we are encouraging our sub-contractors to join the scheme, a significant proportion of whom are already members.

Q. What are the different roles that Construction Managers and Site Managers undertake?
A. The Construction Manager is the principal link with the client from the formulation of the Project Plan to the completion of work. He will produce the timber frame programme in conjunction with the client’s construction team and liaise with the respective design teams. The Site Manager is primarily responsible for the quality of work, together with monitoring progress and the “hands-on”resolution of day-to-day issues.
